Eleven pinholes, and none visible from the doorway
The most repeated finding in this suburb's set.
In short: Pinholes through wet area membranes on Marsden Park builds.
What a pinhole is
A break in the applied membrane about the width of a pen tip, usually a burst bubble in the coat or debris beneath it.
Where we found them
Eleven records across the Marsden Park jobs: shower recesses, a niche and the main drain.
Why they pass unnoticed
They survive a glance from the doorway. Finding them means going over the membrane closely with light.
What happens next
Water passes through, tracks under the screed and appears as a damp skirting in the adjoining room a year or two later.
The economics
Closing one before tiling takes the waterproofer minutes. Finding it afterwards means removing tiles, screed and often the shower.
